It is all about finding items priced significantly lower than its actual market value. Even used items are still worth something on eBay. You may be surprised to find how much people are willing to pay for it.
Before even starting your own "buy and sell" eBay business, you need to build your own feedback rating as this put your customers at ease and help you sell your products quicker. Whenever you buy or sell something on eBay, you are given a feedback. The higher the feedback, the greater is your credibility. So it is imperative that you increase your feedback.
This can be done in two ways. First, you can buy small-priced items, either downloadable ebooks or physical products such as headphones or other stuffs that you might need. Second, you can sell some stuff in your closet that you aren't using anymore. You might want to sell a coat, a used book or even your old mobile phone. Repeat this steps until you reach a feedback score of 10.
Having substantial credibility, you can now start your "buy and sell on eBay" business. Keep in mind that you gain a profit by buying and not from selling. In other words, you need to buy low and sell high. You can do this by:
1. Finding miss-spelled listings on eBay.
Always remember though to check the current eBay market value on the item you want to buy. You can do this by clicking the "completed listings" on the left side of the screen. The rule of the thumb is to allow at least $10 profit while taking into account eBay and PayPal fees. It is wise to check the seller fees on eBay, although it is generally around 10% of the final item price.
2. Looking for general category low-priced items.
This can work well with mobile phones. Some people do label their ad title with vague, broad terms such as Motorola cellphones, camera phone, mobile phone, amongst the few. When you take a close look at them, some are only being offered for as low as 99 cents or at a ridiculously low price. The key here is to know the actual selling price on eBay for that item. If you call sell it for $20-30 and you can buy it for $5 including postage, then you have more than 200% profit net of eBay and PayPal fees.
This method, however, takes more time and effort than the first one as you would have to find out the make or model of the cell phone and make sure it is salable. You can find clues from the pictures that would help your search.
Both these steps require patience. Some days, you can't find any misspellings while there are days when you can find lots of them. The trick here is to focus on one specific niche. If you take my example above and promote mobile phones, then focus on phones. Don't divert your attention. Better yet, concentrate on a specific make or model, say Nokia phones. That way, you can track market changes as the days go by. Another advantage is that you already know the selling price of certain models that you won't need to check its market value that often.
So, there you go. Start doing these steps and you'll soon be on your way to starting a profitable eBay "buy and sell" business.
Best of luck!
